おはようございます。桜梅桃李.comの島でございます。今朝の茨城は、朝からすごい雨が降っております。こんな日こそ、体調に気をつけながら、しっかり題目をあげてまいりたいですね。今日は「挑戦と失敗」について、私の最近の体験をお話しさせてください。

「世界へ打って出よう」――そう思った矢先の失敗 / Reaching for the World, and Stumbling
ご存じのように、私はもともと題目の苦手な男でした。その私が、1日1万遍・3年で1,000万遍という決意を立て、その体験を一冊の本にまとめました。たくさんの温かいお声をいただき、すっかり気を良くした私は「世界へ打って出よう」と英語版を作ったんです。ところが、サイズは間違っている、本文には四角い記号が並んでいる。「虚空厨子」の「U」の字が変換されず、文字化けしていたんですね。世界デビューどころか、のっけからつまずいてしまいました。
でも私は「転んでも、ただでは起きない」と決めています。あらためて『Let’s Daimoku!』を作り直し、今度は日本語と英語を並べた対訳版に挑戦しました。「よし、できた！」と胸を張った矢先――「ファンファーン」、あの”残念でした〜”の音です。両方を一ページに詰め込んだせいで、文字が小さくなりすぎてしまった。だから今日、また作り直してまいります。題目もそうですよね。最初はうまくあがらない、続かない、何度もつまずく。でも立ち上がって、また声を出す。その積み重ねが継続の力になる。失敗の数だけ、本物に近づいている――そう信じて、今日も価値創造の一日を勝ち取ってまいりましょう。レッツ！題目。

Good morning. This is Yukihiro Shima from Oubaitori.com. Today I’d like to share a recent experience about “challenge and failure.”
As some of you know, I was never good at chanting. Yet I made a vow — 10,000 daimoku a day, ten million in three years — and put that journey into a book. Encouraged by the warm response, I decided to “go global” and released an English edition. But the size was wrong, and strange square marks appeared in the text: the letter “U” in “Kokū Zushi” had failed to convert and turned into garbled characters. So much for a world debut — I tripped at the very first step.
Still, I’ve decided that when I fall, I never get up empty-handed. I rebuilt Let’s Daimoku! and this time attempted a Japanese-English bilingual edition. Just as I thought “There, it’s done!” — cue the sad little trombone. Cramming both languages onto one page made the text far too small to read comfortably. So today, I’ll rebuild it once more.
Daimoku is the same, isn’t it? At first it won’t flow, it won’t last, you stumble again and again. But you stand back up and raise your voice once more — and that accumulation becomes real strength. The more we fail, the closer we come to the real thing. Let’s win this day of value creation together. Let’s Daimoku!
