A Tour of the Showroom — A Rainy Day, New Arrivals, and a Special-Color Altar (September 26, 2026)

Hello, this is Shima of Oubaitori. Here is our showroom tour for September 26, 2026.

The Shop Today

The altar behind me is packed and ready to go: a customer is coming to pick it up.

You will see cardboard boxes and Buddhist altar fittings laid out around the shop. They are for shipping. This is not anything unusual; it is simply how things normally look here.

This pre-owned altar, “Hakuho” model 1401, is set aside because we are about to fit it with LED lighting.

New Arrivals, and a Brand-New Altar in a Special Color

This pre-owned altar in rosewood (shitan), “Kaze” model 1418, came in last week. It is a very fine altar. It has now been listed and is on sale.

Another new pre-owned altar went on sale yesterday, and two more are being prepared here.

And this is a brand-new “Shotoku” altar in a special color, with its delivery already arranged. The original is this black-lacquered Shotoku, exactly the same altar, and we applied color to it like this. I think this will be the only order like it in my lifetime.

These two pre-owned altars are being restored.

And here are the Kokū Zushi altars that I designed.

From here on, pre-owned altars line the shop. These are all pre-owned too.

These are three zushi-type altars with seats. You will understand once you sit facing one: they are wonderful.

And this is the “Legame,” purchased by an SGI member in the United Kingdom.

I Owe It All to Daimoku

It is raining outside today, so we could not film from the parking lot.

Every day, so many ideas come to me. I owe it all to daimoku. A life of chanting daimoku, and a life of not chanting because “I’m not good at it” — I am amazed at how different they are.

There are things that have not yet appeared as scenery. But just because they have not appeared does not mean they are not there. They are. I am building them right now.

Value creation means giving shape to something where there was nothing. And through that, we steadily make our own dreams and hopes come true.

Daimoku is truly amazing. I want to keep chanting daimoku.

At your own pace, while continuing to chant daimoku, I hope you will take on your demanding life and work, day by day, with all your strength.

Let’s Daimoku!
