The Prayer for Transforming Life

Today, I want to share once more how I pray.
I call it the prayer for transforming life.

So Many People Aren’t Feeling Well

Why now?
Lately, many of the people close to me — friends, acquaintances — have been in poor health. Just as I was, too.
With the climate shifting the way it is, more and more people tell me they’re not feeling well.

Calling Each Name

So when I begin my morning daimoku, I call each of them by name. “To ____.”

I pray for their health and long life.
I pray for their every success and victory.
And I send them my daimoku.

Just as President Ikeda Teaches

I pray just as President Ikeda guides us — that the protective forces of the universe enter my own life, and the lives of all my fellow members in my community. That, he teaches, is the prayer for transforming life.

Thank you for today!
I’m sending you daimoku for your health and long life!
I’m praying for your every success and victory! I’m sending you daimoku!

I chant with this prayer in my heart: may you be fully well again today — may it be a day of the greatest value.
And I send my daimoku their way. Bang, bang, bang.

Some Days, It Isn’t Even Read

Some of them I’m connected with on LINE. I message them once a day.
Sometimes it isn’t even read.

Then two or three days later, a message comes back.
“Shima-san, thank you so much.”

I’m careful not to be a bother. Just: “How are you doing?”
And I slip in a little of President Ikeda’s guidance.
That’s how I make it real — that our lives are connected.

One Extra Action

Even if I do nothing, I believe my prayers still reach them.
But by deliberately adding one extra action, I feel they reach the other person more easily.
It’s a matter of awareness, really.

That’s what I do. Every day.

Let’s Daimoku!
Thank you again today.

Today’s Question

Whose name will you call today as you send them your daimoku?

Bloom your own way, at your very best.
