How to Choose a Butsudan for Your Inherited “Tokubetsu Tokuso” (Joju) Gohonzon

Yoshihiro Shima

“Protecting your precious Gohonzon with sincerity and precision.”

Hello to all my SGI family! This is Shima from Japan.

Recently, I received an important question: “I am inheriting my grandfather’s ‘Tokubetsu Tokuso’ (Joju) Gohonzon, but it doesn’t fit in my current Butsudan. What should I do?”

Inheriting a Gohonzon is a beautiful mission. To ensure its safe and dignified placement, I want to share the secret to choosing the right Butsudan.

⚠️ Pro-Tip: Accurate Measurement is Key

The standard size is roughly 575mm x 348mm, but it can vary. To avoid the heartbreak of it “not fitting,” please measure the Actual Size:

  • From the top of the string to the bottom of the scroll.
  • The full width of the bottom wooden bar.

How I Can Help You

At Oubaitori Renaissance, we take this very seriously. If I have the Butsudan in stock, I will personally measure it to confirm if your specific Gohonzon will fit perfectly.

Please feel free to reach out to me via LINE with your measurements. I am here to support your journey of faith!
