Good morning. This is Yukihiro Shima of Oubaitori.com. I hope this finds you well. In my daily “10,000 Daimoku Diary,” I have joyful news to share today: with deep gratitude, my Daimoku has now reached 11 million recitations. Thank you so much. After passing ten million, it took only three months to add this next million. The number itself was never the goal—but with each passing day, I feel more certain of the benefit that comes from chanting steadily, without a break.

The foundation completed at ten million
For the past three years, I set myself one simple rule—10,000 Daimoku a day—and just kept going, quietly. Looking back now, reaching ten million felt like the moment the “foundation work” of my life was finally complete. Especially as I neared that mark, and again just after I passed it, one surprising thing after another began to happen. I cannot quite put it into words, but it was the unmistakable sense of my prayers taking shape, little by little. This is something I truly hope you will experience for yourself.
The “double speed” of the next million
Once the foundation is set, a building can rise upon it. I am only now setting out toward a far-off goal of 100 million, yet this next million already feels as though it is moving at twice the pace of the foundation years. When the base is solid, the very same single step carries you farther than before. Daimoku is exactly the same: the more you continue, the more your life becomes dyed with it—and a life dyed with Daimoku begins to gather momentum. This, more than anything, is what I want to share with you.
How much will you decide to chant each day?
What matters here is not whether the number is large or small. My “10,000 a day” is simply the amount I decided on for myself. You have your own rhythm. It can be any number of recitations, or any length of time. The one essential thing, I believe, is to decide for yourself and never give up. Through Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, every one of us can accomplish our own human revolution and create value without limit. I will keep sharing that practice, and my own experience of it, with you.
Continuity is always carved into our lives. Let us chant on together today, with clear and ringing voices. Let’s Daimoku!
