The Day a Sincere Heart Spoke to Me
Yesterday was a day off. My wife and I went to Costco, and then to Kohyan Fore, a large bookstore in Tsukuba. Nothing special happened. We simply spent time together, unhurried. For me, that alone was more than enough.
In the middle of it, the words “a sincere heart” came to me. Speaking without pretending, without dressing anything up — just as we are. I was reminded again how precious that is.
Today’s Daimoku
Speaking honestly, feeling safe enough to speak at all — I think this is the real foundation of happiness in a family: the love between husband and wife.
No need to pretend. No need to act strong. Showing who you really are to the person beside you, and having them receive it. I felt, quietly, that this is where happiness actually lives.
A New Challenge
Something new stirred in me, too. I want to try learning the piano.
I’ve held a quiet hope of one day singing together with my wife and grandchildren. Reality isn’t that simple. But yesterday, without quite knowing why, I found myself thinking — what if I could play. So I decided to try.
It might be awkward. It might not go well. Still, I want to say my honest feelings out loud, take the step, decide, and pray. That whole movement — I think that is what happiness is.
Today is July 30th, the last day of July. Let’s close it out with no regrets.
