Good morning. I hope you are well today. This is Shima of Oubaitori. Morning Daimoku — 10,000 Chants, entry #1,159.
Such joy in chanting
This morning again, the morning daimoku. Chanting is such a joy to me now — such joy. Joy, and being moved, and gratitude. That is the state of life it creates in me.
Chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo myself, I become a Buddha; I bring forth that life of the Buddha. And between the world of the bodhisattva and the world of Buddhahood, we go back and forth.
How will I create value out of this new day?
And today — this new day, this life — how will I create value from it? It is a pleasure just to think about.
“Hmm, what should I do about this part?” “I am not so confident about that part.” Thinking that way is natural, and that is fine. I can hold myself with a certain tenderness now, and say it plainly: I really am giving it everything, every day. That is the feeling I have come to.
Just as you are — your own flower opening
By chanting the daimoku of Myoho-renge-kyo, your own true self just as it is — cherry, plum, peach and damson, each blossoming in its own way. Perhaps it is still a bud. Perhaps you do not even know the name of the flower yet. But it can open, just like that. That is the feeling I have come to.
A discussion meeting today
I have a discussion meeting to go to shortly. I want to dress properly for it.
Let’s Daimoku! Let us make today the finest day yet, a day of creating value. Thank you, and have a good day.
