Three Grandchildren at Their Sports Day

Yesterday, thankfully, I went to the sports day at my grandchildren’s nursery school.

I watched three of my grandchildren giving everything they had to each of their events.

I watched the nursery school teachers, and the children’s parents.

And I thought: Ah — first of all, peace is what matters.

Peace Comes First

I also took in so much — an event like this, the way nursery schools and kindergartens work, and the feelings of the parents who send their children to take part.

It was a truly precious time.

A Sports Day Between the Rain

It had been rained out on Saturday, so it was moved to Sunday morning.

The forecast was uncertain. Around the nursery school in Tsukuba City, there was a little rain early in the morning.

But during the event itself, it stayed cloudy, with no wind at all.

Then, about thirty minutes after the sports day ended, the rain came pouring down.

The Eisa Dance and the White-and-Blue Relay

The children worked hard at every event, including games where the parents joined in.

My eldest grandson starts elementary school next year, so this was his last sports day as a preschooler.

There was the Eisa dance, and for the final event, a relay with the children split into a white team and a blue team.

A relay always gets everyone excited, doesn’t it?

A Grandchild Speaks with Pride

And in the closing address, my grandchild spoke so well!

It was simply wonderful.

Every Step Along the Way Connects

I feel so happy that I was able to be there yesterday.

Every single step is an important part of the journey. I truly felt that treasuring my own life is what connects it all.

Let’s Daimoku! I humbly ask for your support again today.

Today’s Question

What is one step along the way that you want to treasure today?

Bloom your own way, at your very best.
