皆様、おはようございます。今日も本当にお元気でしょうか。桜梅桃李.com責任者の島幸弘です。本日も朝の題目1万遍の実践を、無事に終えることができました。
Good morning, everyone! Are you doing well today? I am Yukihiro Shima, the director of Oubaitori.com. I have successfully completed my practice of chanting 10,000 Daimoku this morning.
こうして毎日、お題目を全力で継続させていただく中で、ほぼ毎日のように「ふと気がつくこと」があります。それは何か。ズバリ、自分自身の心の中にある「惰性」です。
As I continue to chant Daimoku with all my might every day, there is something I suddenly notice almost daily. What is it? Quite frankly, it is “force of habit (inertia)” within my own heart.
毎日継続して題目をあげられていること自体は素晴らしいのですが、いつの間にか惰性の波になってしまっている。その生々しい現実に、祈りの中でハッと気がつく瞬間があるのです。
While it is wonderful in itself to be able to continue chanting every day, before I know it, it turns into a wave of inertia. There are moments during my prayers when I suddenly wake up to this raw reality.
しかし、私はそこで自分を責めたり、追い詰めたりはしません。むしろ、「惰性に気がつくこと自体が、最大の功徳である」と確信しています。
However, I do not blame or corner myself because of that. Rather, I am convinced that noticing this inertia is itself the greatest benefit (Kudoku).
なぜなら、気がつくことができれば、その瞬間に心の「ギアチェンジ」ができるからです。そこから、また新鮮な決意で、新たなチャレンジを開始すればよいだけなのです。
Because if you notice it, you can instantly change the gears of your heart. From that very moment, all you have to do is start a new challenge with a fresh determination.
「惰性を撲滅する」と言うと、自分自身に過度なストレスをかけたり、厳しく縛り付けたりしているように誤解されるかもしれません。しかし、決してそうではありません。
When I say “eradicate inertia,” it might be misunderstood as putting excessive stress on myself or strictly binding myself down. However, that is absolutely not the case.
本当の意味で自分自身を「解放」するために、楽な方へと流されそうな自分を確認し、「あ、ここは危ないな」と自分で気がついて、より良い方向へと改善していくだけのことなのです。
To truly “liberate” myself, I check on my tendency to drift toward the easy path, notice on my own that “Ah, this is dangerous,” and simply improve myself toward a better direction.
気がつかないうちに、自分自身の進むスピードを抑えてしまったり、「もうこのへんでいいんじゃないか」と妥協させようとしたりする心の隙――。私にとって、この「惰性」こそが「魔」そのものです。
Unconsciously slowing down your own pace or letting a loophole in your mind compromise by saying, “Isn’t this good enough already?” For me, this “inertia” is the very manifestation of “devilish functions (Ma).”
魔は、優しそうな顔をして「もう十分頑張ったんだから、いいんじゃないの？」と、なんとなく納得してしまいそうな姿で心に近寄ってきます。
The devil approaches your heart with a gentle face, whispering in a way that makes you somewhat agree, saying, “You’ve worked hard enough, haven’t you?”
だからこそ、この自身の魔を打ち破り、常にみずみずしい生命で前進していくために、私は一歩も退かずに戦い、ギアチェンジを繰り返していく決意です。今日もまた、新たな挑戦の記念すべき一日が始まりました。
That is exactly why, in order to defeat this devilish function within myself and march forward with an ever-fresh life force, I am determined to fight without taking a single step back and keep changing gears. Today, a memorable day of new challenges has begun.
実は今日6月17日は、創価学会の「茨城の日」でもあるのです。この記念日の淵源は1973年6月17日、池田先生が茨城県スポーツ祭に出席され、永遠の4指針を贈られた原点の日です。実は私自身、高校生の時にこの歴史的な舞台に直接参加していました。あの時の師弟の熱き原点は、今も命に鮮烈に脈打っています。師弟の道を真っすぐに貫く「直通（ひたち）の信心」の節目の朝に、純粋無雑な信心へと再びギアチェンジできたことに、深い深い仏縁と感動を禁じ得ません！
Actually, today, June 17th, is Soka Gakkai’s “Ibaraki Day.” The origin of this anniversary goes back to June 17, 1973, when Ikeda Sensei attended the Ibaraki Prefecture Sports Festival and presented the eternal four guidelines. In fact, I personally participated in this historic event as a high school student. That passionate prime point of mentor and disciple still pulses vividly in my life today. On this milestone morning of “Hitachi Faith”—straightforwardly piercing the path of mentor and disciple—I cannot help but feel a deep, deep Buddhist connection and emotion to change gears once again back to pure and unadulterated faith!
レッツ！題目。今日も一日、皆様と共に、最高の勝利を目指して戦ってまいります。
Let’s Daimoku! Today, together with all of you, I will fight aiming for the absolute highest victory.
