The Night I Wrestled with AI, and What Daimoku Taught Me

Today is a holiday here in Japan — a Monday, and the start of a new week. How are you meeting this morning? Last night, I was up late, wrestling with AI. It reminded me, again, how much my morning Daimoku carries me. Let me tell you about it.

Wrestling with AI, late into the night

I will be honest. It did not go the way I hoped. One AI took a long time, and still would not reach what I had in mind. I grew impatient. Another worked steadily, and for that I was grateful — though it asked me to match its way, closely, and that was hard in its own right.

How to build a system around this. How to adjust myself. Every day is study. I am still learning. But to make these new tools my own, in my own way — I feel this matters for the times ahead. Not to turn away because it is difficult, but to move forward, even a little. That, I believe, becomes strength.

Hold the feeling. Give it a form.

When I speak with the AI, something happens. What sat in me only vaguely gets sorted, little by little, through the exchange. It takes a shape. “Then let us do it this way.” And at last it moves — “all right, let me try.”

This is thanks to Daimoku. I chant each morning, and I can keep my own feeling, my own heat, without running on feeling alone. I carry the thought into a real form. I see it through. Slowly, I have become that kind of person. Faith, for me, is what ties the heat inside into a sure step forward.

The felt experience is the strength

Faith is not understood in the head alone. It is felt. It is lived, in the ordinary day. That sense, for me, is everything. Last night’s struggle. This morning, facing forward again. All of it, one experience. And so today, I move one step forward.

Let us not lose to the heat. Through this new week, let us go, together. Let’s Daimoku.
