A viewer wrote to me this morning: “I’m chanting 10,000 daimoku, too.” That single line moved me. Today I want to share the one thing daimoku changed most in me — my relationship with time.

“No Time” Is a Signal to Look Again

“I’m busy. There’s no time.” I said it for years. But that feeling is really a signal — somewhere in your days, something is asking to be looked at again. The trouble is, you can’t see it yourself. Not while you’re living too fast to sit still with your own life.

Scanning Myself Before the Gohonzon

Each morning I sit before the Gohonzon — ten thousand daimoku, and a little more. From that quiet, I can face any struggle with a calm mind, and scan my own days. Where do the hours go? What truly needs my time, and what does not? Slowly, in prayer, it comes into view. And the time I once thought I never had began to return.

Night Drinking Became Morning Light

As I kept chanting, one thing came into focus: the drinking, late at night. When those late nights became early mornings, the hours simply opened up. These days I even run short of that new time — a happy problem to have. Begin the day with daimoku, and life itself changes, quietly. You only know it once you keep going.

To the one who left that comment this morning: deciding, starting, and breaking through the goal you set for yourself is never easy. When I began, I burned with the effort of it. But keep going, and the view will change. Don’t rush. Bloom your own way. Let’s Daimoku — together, one more day.
