タイトル: The Person Next to You Lives in a Different World — Where Is Your Heart Right Now (Morning Daimoku #1,124)

Good morning.
I hope you’re well today.
Bloom your own way, at your very best. ── This is Yukihiro Shima, from Oubaitori.com.

This is my testimony of chanting 10,000 Daimoku each morning.
Today’s theme: your own pace.
The speed at which you can most be yourself, at which you can live your own life — that pace is different for every person.

“I can’t move on until this one thing is settled” vs. “I’ll take it all at once”

Some people cannot move to the next step until this one part is neatly finished. Others carry many things at once, and move forward with all of them in hand.
It’s each person’s own way. The environment, the situation, the work — all different.
And that thing is their thing, the work they are engaged with.

The person right next to you lives in a completely different world

So — the person right next to you lives in a completely different world from you.
Even if you’re doing the same work, front and back, or left and right, and even if the steps and the order look similar, what is running through their mind is something entirely different while they do it.

“Well, it’s work. They’re just doing their job,” you might say. But even doing the same task, the person on your right and the person on your left are thinking in different ways. The steps may match. What is held in the heart is not the same.

Looking the same on the outside, being entirely different on the inside — that is the human heart.

What matters most is your own heart — where is it, right now?

So what matters most?
Your own heart.

Yes, if there is work in front of you, doing it well matters. But just as much — perhaps more — it’s worth valuing this question: where is my heart right now?

The place where you can honor your own heart is before the Gohonzon

Where can you actually take care of your own heart?
For me, in my own experience, it is when I am chanting Daimoku before the Gohonzon.

The person next to you lives in a different world. That is true.
And still, before the Gohonzon, you can meet your own heart directly.
Where is my feeling today? Ask it quietly, and then start the day.

Today is Sunday.
May it be a wonderful Sunday for you.
Let’s Daimoku!
