Good morning. I hope you are well today.
Bloom your own way, at your very best. This is Yukihiro Shima of Oubaitori.com.
This is morning number 1,143 of chanting ten thousand daimoku.
While I was chanting today, one thing kept returning to me: prayer that changes life itself.
Why I pray to change my own life first
There are many prayers inside daimoku. Let this problem in front of me be solved. Let that person recover. Every one of them matters.
But underneath them all is one thing: changing my own life.
First I have to believe in my own life. Nothing starts before that. When I believe it all the way, the protective functions of the universe begin to move. The prayer stops working on the outside and starts working from within. That is what I felt again this morning.
Two landscapes
Every morning I look at two landscapes.
One is the real one. Open your eyes and it is there. The other opens when I close my eyes: the landscape I hold in my heart through faith.
Look only at the first one and a person shrinks. Look only at the second and your feet leave the ground.
So I carry both and keep walking. I think that walk is itself how a mission born inside my own karma gets carried out.
Bringing the inner landscape into the real world
The hope in my heart. The dream in my heart. Bringing those out into this actual society.
That, I believe, is the drama of human revolution.
Dramatic things do not happen every day. But when I live with daimoku at the root of the day, the landscape does move. Something that existed only in my heart six months ago is somehow standing in front of me. Over 1,143 mornings, that has happened more than once.
I am still on the way. So are you, probably. Let us carve out one more valuable day together.
Let’s Daimoku. Thank you for being here today.
