昨日、我が家にひとつの荷物が届きました。開けてみると、英語版の『仏壇革命 虚空厨子（Butsudan Revolution）』。ニュージーランドのゴードンさんに翻訳の労をとっていただき、ようやくかたちになった一冊です。日本語版が世に出たのが去年の八月。そこから海を越えて、英語の本になりました。

題目が苦手だった男が、「題目があがる仏壇」を作った / A man who struggled with daimoku built an altar for daimoku
お恥ずかしい話ですが、私はもともと題目が苦手な人間でした。だからこそ、自分自身が変わりたい一心で考え抜いて作ったのが「虚空厨子」なんです。開けたくなる、題目があがる──その想いだけでした。おかげさまで、私は少しずつ「題目があがる男」になれました。

その体験をお話ししたとき、ゴードンさんが「英語版を作るなら協力させてください」と手を挙げてくださいました。少し前の自分なら、まず間違いなく「そんなの無理だ」と決めつけていたはずのことです。
題目は「自分には無理」の壁を越えさせてくれる / Daimoku breaks through the wall of “I can’t”
お題目をあげていると、「もうダメだ」「これは無理だ」と思い込んでいた壁が、少しずつ動いていきます。諸天善神が力を貸してくださる──これは理屈ではなく、私自身がこの身で体験している実証なんです。全ては題目から始まる。あとは、ただ実行するだけ。レッツ！題目。

Good morning. This is Yukihiro Shima from Oubaitori.com. This is my morning daimoku, entry #1,093.
Yesterday a package arrived at my home. Inside was the English edition of Butsudan Revolution: The Story of the Kokū Zushi. It was translated with the generous help of Gordon in New Zealand, and at last it has taken shape as a book. The Japanese edition came out last August; from there, this English edition was born and crossed the ocean.
To be honest, I was never good at chanting daimoku. That is exactly why I poured everything into designing the Kokū Zushi — an altar that makes you want to open it, an altar for daimoku. I built it because I myself wanted to change. Little by little, I became a man who chants.
When I shared that story, Gordon offered to translate it into English. And so a man who cannot read English has now published a book in English. Not long ago, I would have been certain it was impossible.
When you chant, the wall of “I can’t” — the wall you were sure you could never cross — begins to move. The protective forces of the universe lend their strength. This is not theory; it is the actual proof I have lived myself.
Everything begins with daimoku. Then, simply act. Whatever feels impossible for you right now, please don’t give up on it. Let’s Daimoku! May your day be wonderful.
